Game Zone – Gamer’s Retail Stores

Expansion Project Specialty Stores in Mexico (2009)

The "Game Zone" project is the organic expansion of stores in multiple locations in Mexico. Following the acquisition of a group of retail stores specializing in selling video games, consoles and related accessories, the shareholders determined the desire to expand the concept in several places throughout the country.

The existing portfolio of stores, though scattered and scarce, allowed assessing the variables of this business, successful locations and opportunities, as well as replicating the conditions for success when searching for locations for the new units of the brand.

In order to obtain an orderly development, a business plan and a monthly store-opening plan were made, as well as the following analysis and studies:

  • Mapping of the malls with target flow by city and state.
  • Mapping of the current stores and their areas of influence.
  • Mapping of competitors' stores and their areas of influence.
  • Strategic Opening Plan by city (Priorities, Step, and Sequence).
  • Searching for malls, premises and other opportunities for the line of business.
  • Negotiating with commercial real estate developments.
  • Pro forma financial feasibility analysis.
  • Review and signing of leasing contracts.
  • Constructive and technical feasibility of the commercial premises.

With a solid and profitable opening step, the Gamers retail stores of the Game Zone Project will position themselves as leaders of the Mexican market in the near future. We in De la Cabada Consultants are very involved with their success and proud to be part of this new story of multi-units retail in the entertainment industry.
